In order to succeed in this online course, you must be comfortable working with technology. At a minimum, you must possess the following technical skills:
- Ability to use the Internet in an effective and efficient manner, including installation and management of browser plug-ins and add-ons.
- Basic knowledge about the operation of a computer, file management, and software installation.
- Working knowledge of the Canvas learning management system.
- Ability to proficiently search the web for information
- Ability to download and print information from websites
- Ability to download, view, and/or print PDF files

Late Work Policy:
There is a lot of material to cover in this class and the lessons are carefully arranged for optimal learning. Please pay close attention to your due dates!
In general, assignments not turned in by their due dates will receive a maximum of half credit for up to a week. Any assignment turned in more than one week past its due date will not receive credit. Please turn your work in on time.
The exception to the one-week late policy is the group forum discussion posts. Because your feedback to your classmates is only useful if it is timely, no credit will be given for any late group forum posts. Those not made by the due dates will become a zero.
Exams or final papers will go down one letter grade for each 24 hours they are late.
In conclusion, I ask you to complete your work to the best of your ability, turn it in on time, and to respect the time your classmates and I are investing in your progress. In return, I will make every effort to support you in any way I can and to make this a fun and rewarding semester.
Grading Turnaround Time:
All completed assignments will be graded no later than seven days after the due date, and sooner when possible.
Incomplete Policy:
The incomplete grade is used for verifiable unavoidable reasons. If you have made significant progress in your course, your end date is near, and you have reasons that can be documented as unavoidable, you may request a grade of Incomplete. To request a grade of Incomplete for this course, you must:
- Have satisfactorily completed all course work through Unit 7 (VCCS Policy specifies 60% or more);
- Explain your extenuating circumstances in writing;
- Provide a plan for completing the remaining assignments in writing (all work must be completed by the end of the subsequent semester).
Note: If an Incomplete is granted, all work must be completed in 4 weeks for the 16 week class or 2 weeks for the 8 week class.
